The story of vluv

When designer and product developer Kristof Hock discovered that sticky, brightly colored pvc balls, which did not fit the interior of the room and certainly not the designer furniture, were used as ergonomic seating in many designer offices, he developed vluv. The first brand for stylish sitting balls with high-quality cover.

He thought the concept from head to toe and integrated a lot of clever innovations such as the bottom ring, which prevents the ball from rolling too easily. He also thought about mobility and integrated a practical carrying handle. In many tests Kristof sought and found suitable raw materials, the ideal shape and created a durable construction.

HOCK – Style in motion was founded by creative master mind Kristof Hock in June 2009. A true perfectionist with a passion for sophisticated and minimalist design. HOCK Design designs, develops and produces stylish products for activity and living.

Philosophy

Designing an attractive product is much harder than it looks: you need to use the right materials, and get the perfect balance of form and function, to inspire emotion within people and captivate their interest. HOCKS’s passion for the finest natural materials is the cornerstone of their brand philosophy, and makes them stand out in a world full of synthetic and artificial products.

HOCK use only the best raw materials to make the products, and source all materials locally, wherever possible. It is HOCK’s commitment to produce sustainably and environmentally friendly, with minimized chemical processes - for example for the production of our “Made in Germany” vluv VELT.

Design

HOCK products are the epitome of perfection, timelessness and elegance, and effortlessly combine form and function. Their overall design is clean, minimal and highly functional.

HOCK work alongside award-winning designers and highly skilled engineers to design and develop their products in a time-intensive process. They only build a prototype when they’re sure that every angle, curve and proportion is absolutely spot on. Thanks to their unique design, HOCK products are instantly recognizable. All of their products are compatible, right across the different ranges.

Awards

In 2010, HOCK received the "ISPO BRANDNEW Award" from ISPO Munich, the leading international sports business trade show. In 2011, our brand was nominated for the "German Design Council design award". Our nominated products were showcased at the Ambiente 2011 trade show in Frankfurt.

Kristof Hock himself received awards such as the "iF Communication Design Award", the "Lighting Design Award Shortlist 2013" and the "2014 AIT Award International Retail and Presentation Award" for several external design projects.

The brand VLUV has been awarded as „Winner“ at the "German Brand Award 2017".

All vluvs have been certified as "Ergonomical Product" by the German institute IGR e.V. (Interessengemeinschaft der Rückenschullehrer/Innen e.V.).
